Global Accessibility Awareness Day MAY 19 2016

May 19 2016 marks the fifth Global Accessibility Awareness Day, GAAD is to get people talking, thinking and learning about digital accessibility for people with different disabilities. Many people are not aware or don’t know where to start with digital accessibility that can help people with their experience using digital devices, the web, software, apps etc.

One of the more important reasons for GAAD is to get developers to take notice, talk about, change and see what they can do to make their website, app, software, devices etc. accessible. There really isn’t much info out there unless you look hard and it can at times to be hard to understand how to use.

Another great thing about GAAD is to help disability services and organisations understand what is available, also being able to use the web to deliver services to clients.

Many people with disabilities the internet and technology is their way to communicate with the world, read our post about Dillan and the way he uses his iPad to communicate with the world around him HERE

The App store has a collection for Accessibility Apps, that cover Vision, Hearing, Physical & Motor Skills, Learning & Literacy and speech- great work Apple! Be sure to check them out.
