We all know the story; an orphan boy is raised in the jungle with the help of a pack of wolves, a bear, and a black panther. My children have seen the older versions, read the book but to be honest they haven’t shown any interest in wanting to go and see it at the cinemas. I think we’ll wait till it’s released on Foxtel Box Office.

Target audience: Young kids and tweens

The Huntsman: Winter's War

(Universal Pictures)

The Huntsman: Winter's War release date for Australia is April 22.

The Huntsman: Winter’s War is a prequel to the 2012 Snow White and the Huntsman which I absolutely loved. My children were to young back when this was released and are still a tad too young- I will be enjoying this one on my own.

Target audience: Tweens and teens

Ratchet and Clank

(Gramercy Pictures)

Looks like Australian fans will be waiting till June 23rd for this one while the USA release is set for April 20.

Ratchet and Clank

Ratchet and Clank was one of my favourite PlayStation games to play as a kid, so this movie will be well welcomed by me. My son wants to see it too even though he has yet to play the game, I might need to get a copy and bring out the old console.

This movie is a short one at 90mins

Target audience: Kids and tweens

Captain America: Civil War

(Walt Disney Studios)

Captain America: Civil war is due to hit the Aussie screens on April 28

I would like to hear from other parents, do you find the new superhero movies too violent for 10-14 age group? Monster Dad wants to take K-Monster but I’m not sure.

Target audience: Tweens and teens

The Angry Birds Movie

(Columbia Pictures)

The Angry Birds Movie is showing from May 12.

Angry Birds is one of the most popular apps out there, I can see a lot of kids getting excited to see this 3D adventure. I’m thinking of getting a few of my sons friends to go with him and enjoy it together.

Target audience: Kids and tweens

Alice Through the Looking Glass

(Disney)

I’m counting the days till July 14th! I loved the last Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, I really hope it doesn’t let me down but by the look of the trailer it will be in true Alice style and wonderful.

Target audience: Tweens and teens

X-Men: Apocalypse

(20th Century Fox)

X-Men: Apocalypse is coming to Australian cinemas on May 26. I think I will wait for this one to hit Foxtel Box Office, I really enjoyed the last ones but it’s the type of movie I prefer to relax and watch at home. My son has seen the others so he will want to see this one too.

Target audience: Tweens and teens

TMNT: Out of the Shadows

June 9: As a kid I loved TMNT even if my cousin teased me for having turtle toes! The new TMNT has no appeal to me but my kids love it.

Target audience: Tweens and teens

Finding Dory

NEMO has to be one of the big name kid movies that never gets old, the new installment Finding Dory will be shown here in Australia from June 17. I will be taking the family to see this one and add the DVD to our collection.

Target audience:Young kids and tweens

The BFG

June 30, Roald Dahl fans will be excited for this one. The BFG is directed by Steven Spielberg so I’m sure it will be amazing for the family.

Target audience: kids and tweens

The Secret Life of Pets

September 8: My kids can’t wait for The Secret Life of Pets; the trailer had us all wanting to see this one as a family.

Target audience: Young kids and tweens

Ghostbusters

July 14: I seriously have no idea why I’m adding this movie to the list, I won’t be seeing it. I’m a huge old school Ghostbusters fan, I don’t want to be let down and I think this movie will do that.

If you do go and see it please let me know what you think

Target audience: Teens

Ice Age: Collision Course

The new Ice Age instalment is set to hit Aussie screens on July 21, which will follow all the well-known characters and introduce some new ones. We may see this one if we have time otherwise we’ll be watching at home when it comes to DVD to be added to our family collection.

Target audience: Kids and tweens
