K- Monster has been talking about this website called code.org that he has been using in technology at school. K wants to be a computer/ game programmer when he grows up, he has been interested in computer science for over a year now and I’m so glad it’s being introduced into his school curriculum.

Code.org truly is a great website that is doing so much for children around the world.

Let’s get ready for Computer Science Education week December 7-13, by joining millions of others all around the world completing an Hour of Code with code.org.

I tried out the Minecraft hour of code and found it very educational, kid friendly and fun. Minecraft hour of code is for ages 6+, which can be used on pc, smart phone or tablet. You can be Steve or Alex to work your way through the Minecraft world- to try it yourself visit code.org.

There are many other Hours of code your child can try at home, or if your child’s school isn’t using code.org I would suggest showing it to their teachers.

What is your child’s school doing for Computer Science Education week December 7-13?

Code.org believes that every student should have the opportunity to learn computer science, since it helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. Computer science is the future and by starting kids early it is setting the foundation for success in any 21st-century career path.

Go check out code.org yourself, read about all the wonderful things they are doing for children all around the world.
